The Mortensons are from Milton, FL, and they responded to God’s call on their lives during their church’s missions conference in 2015.  For 10 years Nate was a Deputy Sheriff working in patrol and the Criminal Investigations Division.  As a family they had always tried to make themselves available to serve in many ministries at their home church (West Florida Baptist Church).  They have served as leaders of the Wednesday night children’s program, have been substitute Sunday School teachers, sang in the choir and were leaders in the church’s annual kid’s crusade.

The Mortensons completed deputation and arrived on the field at the end of May 2018 to begin studying the Spanish language.  After completing a year of formal language learning in May of 2019, they became more involved in church administration, discipleship of young believers, the church's children's ministries as well as other team outreach ministries.  With the multifaceted partnership that makes up Team Honduras, the Mortensons enjoy the many different ministry service opportunities.
